Crossroads Lewis’ Short Breaks provide a carer with breaks of up to 3 nights/4 days, while our Care Attendant team provide 24 hour care at home for the cared-for. This lessens the disruption to the cared-for person’s routine, and is particularly beneficial to those with dementia. Crossroads Lewis takes over the role of the carer, to meet all the needs of the cared-for eg personal care, medication and meals.

RNIB Activate delivered a programme of activities for children and young people living with sight loss and their families across Scotland.

We provided grants directly to carers who care for an adult who has Down’s syndrome who lives with them.

Tagsa Uibhist Doigheag Respite Care Home

Tagsa Uibhist provides residential respite on a flexible basis depending on family carers requirements and dates for respite to be provided. if residential respite is not suitable or a room is not available we will try to find community support staff to provide respite at home. Doigheag respite care home is a small 2 bedroom care home specifically for respite care only.

This service gives a family carer a break of up to 3 nights/4 days.  Our highly experienced team of Care Attendants provide 24 hour care at home service. Our team take over the role of the carer, meeting all needs, with minimal disruption to the cared-for. Priority is given to carers unable to use statutory respite, and the service is open to Young Carers.

We provided a group trip for carers of adults with learning disabilities who live in the Western Isles.

Home and Away

To date we have delivered respite services to 2 young people and 3 carers, a 5 week arts club and an 8 week photography club.

Young people have gone out for dinner, gone to the pantomime, visited local fetes, had walks along the beach, massage/girly pampering sessions, visited local parks, taken lots of photographs, made lots of art works and held an exhibition.
