Fun with Friends

Through this project we delivered twelve outings for families of children and young people with additional support needs. Whole families took part, including siblings and parents/carers. The outings were to a variety of fun destinations creating fun times and building friendships.

​​A school holiday club that provides specialist support, play and learning opportunities to young people with a disability, whilst providing short break/respite time to parents/carers. Young people are encouraged to participate, have fun and engage with peers whilst achieving individual outcomes.

Autism Friendly Football allows young people on the autistic spectrum to take part in weekly football sessions providing the opportunity to have fun, become more physically active, develop life skills and raise confidence. Sessions also allow carers some respite and the opportunity to socialise.

Social & Emotional Support for Deaf Children, Young People & their Families

We provided inclusive, understanding and fun activities for deaf children & young people throughout the West of Scotland and provided carers with many opportunities to take a meaningful break from their caring role. This project directly improved the mental health and wellbeing of everyone involved.

Mini Denners

​​​​​​​​​Mini Denners is a “nursery” experience for our children under 5 with cancer, their siblings and carers from Jak’s Den, Livingston and Aberdeen. Activities include music, story time, messy play, crafts and snack allows our children to experience the joy and wonder of early years and we also provide pampers for their carers.

Over 21's Social Evenings

Our project was for young adults over 21 years of age. We arranged several events for our young adults and carers. Staff and volunteers helped to make each event fun for everyone and having staff and volunteers onboard gave our carers time to enjoy the events and a well deserved break.

Short Break Stays Pilot

The Short Break Stays Pilot was developed in co-production with young adults with life-limiting conditions and their informal carers, and focuses on improving overall well-being through providing respite. The pilot explored the validity of whether our hospice was an appropriate environment.

Bright Futures

Bright Futures is an online activity programme designed to help carers and younger cared people with learning disabilities connect and focus on resilience and wellbeing, it transitioned to face to face during 2022.

In addition, Bright Futures has delivered 10 x 2 day short breaks and a fun day.

SHA Youth Service Summer Camp

We provided a 5-day summer camp in July 2022 for 38 young carers, aged 8 – 25 years old, living in a family impacted by Huntington’s Disease.

The camp provided a programme of customised activities, one-to-one and group sessions on the issues surrounding Huntington’s Disease and being a young carer.

Deaf Action Youth Club Summer Camp 2022

Our weeklong residential camp in Aberfoyle was for young people aged 10-18 who are deaf or affected by deafness. They undertook a series of outdoor & indoor activities focussing on independence building, confidence, addressing isolation and encouraging a positive deaf identity.
