Cosgrove Connections brought families who have a young person with complex needs together. Families in West Central Scotland have accessed a range of themed family days and 9 short breaks, sustaining them in their caring role and building skills, friendships and confidence in young people.

Caring Matters

We held weekly groups in evenings where we provided time for working carers to participate in short break group activities. Held weekly we provide carer support groups to allow carers to come together to share experiences, information and generally support each other. Supporting former carers to become ambassador

Scotland Siblings & Young Carers Camp 2019

We ran a young carers camp in Scotland for the siblings of children who suffer from a serious illness/disability. The camp, which took place at Strathallan School in Perth from 7th – 13th July, gave young carers respite from their caring role and time to grow in self-confidence and make new friends.

Junior Summer Camp

We delivered an all-inclusive annual multi-sport, pan disability residential sports camp held at Badaguish Activity Centre. The camp was for four days long, very positive and intensive for participants and a great chance for carer respite sustained directly through time away at camp.

REACH Lanarkshire Autism Summer Programme 2019

Throughout summer of 2019 our project delivered activities and short breaks to families living with autism. We took 52 families on a two night stay to Blackpool, 17 teens on an overnight stay at Wiston lodge with 2 days of activities and provided outdoor play for 15 children with high support needs.

Scotland Family Camp 2019

We hosted a Family Camp in Scotland for families of children with a serious life-limiting illness/disability. Camp was based at Tulliallan Police College, Fife from 26th – 28th April 2019 inclusive, (3 days, 2 nights).

Camp provided respite and fun for carers and children alike.

We provided an 8 day Summer Club, including transport and intensive staffing, for children with complex support needs.

There was one tailored week for older and one for younger pupils. An activity and play based club for children unable to access community run schemes due to their support needs.

Weekend Short Break Adventures

We delivered a series of weekend adventures for young people at outdoor centres around Scotland. By providing weekends away with some camping, and some indoors. This allowed young people got to spend time with their friends, build skills for life and gain independence.

Friday Night Youth Club

We delivered the Friday Night Youth Club it is an additional & Complex needs specific club run by trained staff and volunteers.

It caters for young people age 12-18 years to provide social opportunities and friendships with peers, allowing parent/carers to have a short break.

We delivered the PAMIS ‘My Time’ Fun & Friendship Club enabled young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and their families/carers to access leisure opportunities to help meet some of their health and well-being outcomes, whilst offering a whole family experience.
