The Yard Fun & Friendship Youth Sessions

We ran four Fun & Friendship youth clubs for disabled young people, based in Edinburgh. The clubs helped increase their social, emotional and life skills and independence, as well as creating friendships and providing respite for families/carers.

AdoptionUK Scotland - Short Breaks Programme

The provision of short breaks for adopted and kinship children and young people and breaks for caring for parents and carers through inclusive family events and activities, including a residential weekend break.

Mini Denners

​​​​​​​​​Mini Denners is a “nursery” experience for our children under 5 with cancer, their siblings and carers from Jak’s Den, Livingston and Aberdeen. Activities include music, story time, messy play, crafts and snack allows our children to experience the joy and wonder of early years and we also provide pampers for their carers.

Connecting to Wellbeing

Our project supported adult, young adult and young carers to manage their wellbeing by providing breaks from caring, opportunity to meet other carers and develop self-management skills.

Our project included two wellbeing weekends and an intergenerational wellbeing day in Fife.

SHA Youth Service Summer Camp

We provided a 5-day summer camp in July 2022 for 38 young carers, aged 8 – 25 years old, living in a family impacted by Huntington’s Disease.

The camp provided a programme of customised activities, one-to-one and group sessions on the issues surrounding Huntington’s Disease and being a young carer.

Haven Breaks @ Home Phase 2

We continued to deliver Haven Breaks @ Home project supporting carers and cared for individuals affected by life limiting illness to accesses short breaks that are meaningful to them from within their own homes through the provision of Wellbeing Toolkit resources and online wellbeing support services.

Summer Sports Camp

Up to 70 children and young people will be given the opportunity to experience sport and physical activity with peers of similar ages and disabilities. The aim would be to encourage independence, find social groups and gain confidence to keep active.

Camp in the Cloud 2021 - Scottish Families

We delivered 9, day-long, online Camp in the Cloud family camp sessions throughout 2022 which served 31 children living with serious illness, and 34 of their family members from Scotland. We brought fun, respite and connection to families at a time of crisis.

VI Football

The project provides unique football sessions for Visually Impaired young people that are unable to take part in main stream sessions. It creates a positive social environment for both the young people and carers to have fun and/or take a break from their caring role.

Mini Denners

​Mini Denners provided regular bespoke creative sessions for children under 5 at Jaks Den and online allowing them the chance to play and socialise reducing the loneliness and isolation of a cancer journey, enabling fun once more, whilst allowing carers the time and space to be themselves and relax.
