Quarriers delivered short breaks to 19 carers and 7 children with disabilities from Aberdeenshire. Three group activity sessions and a weekend residential retreat enabled carers and young people to learn, have fun, try new things, improve their wellbeing and enjoy a break from their normal routine.

Oban, Lorn and Isles Parent Carers Time for Me

A monthly peer support group for parent carers and their children held in a local soft play facility,creating friendships and support alongside a menu of flexible respite activities for parents and children including group outings and time out for parent carers.

Disabled children and young people use their imagination to create their own musical theatre, developing skills, building confidence, making friends and having fun through the mediums of music, dance and drama.

SNAP Short Breaks 2019-20

We provided the opportunity for 48 children with special needs to attend a variety of short breaks – Saturday outings and weekend (48 hr) and overnight stays (28 hr).

The Me To Project

The Me 2 project brought children and young people with additional needs together to take part in a range of themed activity days and short breaks which have built skills,confidence and friendships and provided a break for parents and carers.

The children and young people taking part made friends and gained skills and confidence trying new activities.

Nature Explorers programme provided fun outdoor opportunities for families with children and young people with disabilities during school holidays.

Parents/carers get a break whilst children enjoy accessible, sensory based activities at a range of outdoor countryside/heritage sites.

We provided respite holiday breaks for children suffering from cancer and leukaemia and their families.

Animar provides support for 15 young people 3 Saturdays a month for 4.5 hours . In this time our program is planned, risk assessed and budgeted by the young people, who further their independence and giving parents/carers respite. This is achieved using a program supported by the Playback Resource.

Autism Friendly Football

Autism Friendly Football provided a weekly football session for young people on the autistic spectrum between the ages of 6-16. The sessions took place on a Wednesday night at Prosoccer Newton Mearns over a 40 week period.

We delivered our Type 1 Weekender in Scotland improved the confidence and wellbeing of young people with type 1 diabetes, and their carers, through a programme of fun, educational activities. It enabled families to make friends, share experiences and learn how to live with more freedom from diabetes.
